Male Dog aged Senior.
Meet Skull!
Sex: Male
Breed: Pomeranian Mix
Age: Approximately 9 Years, 7 Months
Size: Approximately 25 lbs
Dogs: Can be dog selective
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Would do best with older kiddos (10+)
House-trained: Can be prone to marking!
Since the name did not suit this fluffy bear, we have been calling him Theodore (Teddy for short!) Teddy is energetic, very friendly, treat motivated and enjoys his chewy toys. He made quick friends with our 2 resident dogs that are the same size - now dubbed The Snack Pack.
He takes correction from humans and pups in stride and is working on his table manners (tends to eat quickly). He has a tendency to mark when introduced to a new environment so he should wear a belly band when in a new environment. He is fine after his first day.
Teddy loves sleeping in the sun, belly rubs, walks and hanging out in the kitchen with his people. He would benefit from walks and/or hikes. His vision is not 100% and he is now blind in his left eye, but he learned the house and backyard very quickly and moves freely with confidence.
Teddy would do best with a couple or family that knows dogs need treats, walks and lots of belly rubs. He would do fine with or without other dogs but prefers to be the only dog!

Meet Tucker!
Sex: Male
Age: 1 Year Old
85 lbs.
Dogs: Yes!
Kids: Yes! May do best with older kiddos as he is a big guy, who doesn't quite know how large he is.
Cats: Would do best with a dog savvy cat.
Crate Trained: Yes!
House Trained: Yes!
Tucker is a fun, happy boy who’s beginning to settle into training nicely. He’s showing great curiosity about his surroundings and a willingness to engage once he’s had time to take everything in. As he continues to gain structure and consistency, his focus and responsiveness will only improve.
Tucker’s sits are already very solid, he responds quickly and with enthusiasm. His downs are still a work in progress; he’ll sometimes follow the lure and settle for a few seconds before popping back up, especially when there’s a lot going on around him. We’re continuing to build duration and reliability in this command with short, successful repetitions to keep him engaged.
He can be excitable, occasionally jumping up for attention, but he’s learning that calm behavior earns praise and rewards.
Tucker’s recall has improved since his previous session. Working on a short leash, he’s already showing more attentiveness and quicker turnarounds when called. When distracted by scents, he may still need a little leash guidance, but he’s catching on quickly. Out at the park, his name recognition was strong for a new environment — he responded happily to most recalls, and when he needed help, a gentle leash assist was all it took to bring his attention back.
At the park, we focused heavily on loose leash walking since Tucker is naturally strong and eager to explore. Any time he hit the end of the leash, we practiced direction changes and short resets to encourage him to check in and follow along. By the end of the walk, he began to settle into the rhythm, walking more calmly at his handler’s side.
Tucker enjoyed taking in all the sights and smells at Johnson Springview. He’s very curious and observant but remains non-reactive — even when a neighbor’s dog barked at him from behind a fence, he simply looked and carried on. We spent time at a bench working on settling; within a few minutes, he chose to lay down on his own and calmly watched the world go by. This was a great sign of progress and growing comfort with stillness in busy environments.
Tucker is a sweet, social boy who’s starting to balance his natural enthusiasm with structure and self-control. His focus is improving each session, and he’s building a stronger connection with his handler. He’s making good progress, with time and routine, Tucker will continue to flourish!
Our adult dog adoption fee is $300 (with $5 processing fee if paid by card) and includes neuter, DAPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccines, deworming, microchip, and lifetime registration.
Male Dog aged Juvenile.
**Vito will only be available for private meets. He will not attend Saturday adoption events**
Meet Vito!
Sex: Male
Age: 11 Months
Weight: About 38 lbs
Crate Trained: Yes!
Potty Trained: Work in progress, needs to be on a structured schedule.
Leash Trained: Work in progress and improving!
Dogs: Yes!
Cats: Would do best with dog savvy cats
Kids: Probably 10 years or older due to his puppy exuberance.
My name is Vito! And I’ve been working hard on my training. I’m getting really reliable with my sits and downs, whether I’m in front or at my handler’s side. I can usually hold my stays for 45–60 seconds at 20–30 feet, and in quieter places I can stretch that to a couple of minutes. Busy spots sometimes make me creep forward, but I’m learning to settle with practice.
My heel work is coming along well. I like to start out ahead, but I settle into position quickly with reminders. I’m straighter at the side now and staying more focused, even when we pass people, kids, dogs, or bikes. I check in often and follow pace and direction changes nicely.
Recalls are one of my strengths. On long lines I’ll sprint right back, even from 40–50 feet, and I finish with a focused sit. In really busy areas, sometimes I pause for a smell or person, but with a little help I remember what I’m supposed to do.
I’m curious by nature, so distractions catch my eye, but I’m learning “leave it” and getting better at responding to just a verbal cue. Settling in busy places like malls or near fountains is getting easier—I can now stay down longer even when there’s a lot going on!!
I’ve had lots of exposure to new things: playgrounds, statues, fountains, crowds, even the big bear at Bass Pro. I was cautious at first, but with encouragement I gain confidence quickly.
With other dogs I’m playful and polite, and that’s helping me stay neutral when I see them during training. I’m also doing well with my routine. I settle in the crate, I’ve been accident free for a minute!
Overall, I’m a social, eager pup who loves working with my handler. My recall and heel are improving steadily, my impulse control is getting stronger, and I’m building confidence everywhere I go. With consistency and practice, I’m well on my way to becoming a reliable and well-mannered companion.

Meet 25-ALMOND
Breed: Chi/Chiweenie mix
Age: 5 months
Weight: 12 lbs
Dogs: Yes — great with small dogs, unknown with big dogs
Cats: Unknown
Children: Unknown
House-Trained: In progress
Crate-Trained: In progress
Leash-Trained: Yes — excited and curious
Description
Almond is a joyful, silly, confident puppy with tons of personality. He loves other small dogs and plays beautifully with them; zoomies, wrestling, chase, and copying everything they do. Watching and observing the older dogs has also helped his house-training improve a lot.
He’s very smart and food-motivated, already knows Sit, and is learning Stay. He loves toys (especially squeaky ones), plays a great game of fetch, and learns quickly with short training sessions.
Almond has a good amount of puppy energy and does best with a routine that includes a daily walk and playtime. Now that his cone is off, he’s become an amazing little adventure buddy — he loves exploring outdoors, sniffing around on hikes, and taking in everything with his happy puppy curiosity. On leash he’s excitable but easily redirected with treats.
Like any 5-month-old, he’s curious and mouthy, so gentle redirection and a bit of supervision help. He can be fast around doors because he loves following his person.
After playtime, he melts into a total cuddle bug. He sleeps on the bed, loves being close, and follows his person from room to room.
Playful, clever, affectionate, and outdoorsy, Almond is ready to bring joy and lots of cuddles to his forever home

Female Dog aged Young Adult.
This girl is up for adoption, and boy is she a superstar 🤩
She needs a mentor dog in the home!!!
25Charlene Darling (aka Moey or Mojo)
Breed: Shepherd/Basenji Mix
Age: Approximately 1 Year Old
Weight: 45 lbs
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown, but based on her sweet and gentle temperament I would say yes!
House Trained: Yes, uses dog door and will signal at the door if dog door is closed
Crate Trained: Not a fan, but will go in, whine at first, then settle
Leash Trained: Yes
Charlene Darling (we call her Moey or Mojo) is an incredibly sweet, gentle and loving dog. When she first arrived from the shelter, she was very shy and nervous, had never used stairs or dog doors, was scared of going inside the house and did not understand playing with toys. This girl is a completely different dog now! She is running up and down stairs, charging through dog doors, playing like crazy with her foster brother and toys, and loves being with her people inside and outside. She absolutely adores her foster brother (the feeling is mutual 😀) and they are pretty much inseparable. Our resident dog definitely expedited the learning and “coming out of her shell” process. She would love another dog in the house, but I believe she would also be ok as the only dog, as long as she gets lots of love! She is medium energy and will match the energy and play style of another dog. She has met dogs of all sizes and done great. She has not been exposed to cats in her foster home, but I think she would be fine with a cat with a slow introduction. There are no children in her foster home, however based on her sweet and gentle nature, she would most likely be great with children. She is not a finicky eater and loves treats. She rides well in the car, but is a little nervous about getting in, though she is really improving. She loves going for walks, but does need some work on pulling while on leash. She is easy to live with, hardly ever barks, and is very well behaved in the house. She can be left loose in the house (minus a few rooms closed off) with our resident dog for several hours. The best part, she is a TOTAL snuggle bug ❤️ Whoever adopts this girl is going to be so happy!

Female Dog aged Young Adult.
25-Helen Crump
Breed: Mix Terrier
Age: 3 - 4 years old
Gender: Female
Weight: 18 lbs
Crate Trained; Yes
Potty Trained: Yes, needs to be reminded
Kids: Limited exposure. She was fine with my 7-month grandson and 4-year-old granddaughter
Cats: Unknown
Dogs: Prefers to be only dog
Crump is a fun, energetic, smart, little dog! She loves to go for walks in the early morning and late afternoon. She may be small, but she can keep up with the rest of the gang. She walks well on a leash. Sometimes we take a pack walk; my son, his baby in stroller, his large chocolate lab, June, and me and my chocolate lab, Mocha, along with Crump. Crump enjoys walking and forages ahead confidently with our little group. When Crump sees new people or dogs on our walks she sometimes growls or barks. That being said I find once she meets someone new and warms up, she is fine.
Crump tends to follow my dog’s lead when they hang out in the backyard. If Mocha runs to the fence to bark at a passerby Crump is right behind. If Mocha is barking at the neighbor's dog at the fence Crump is barking too. At which time everybody comes in the house. She enjoys roaming our backyard and finding a warm spot in the sun to relax. Inside she loves to lay down under the master bed, retreat to the laundry room or the front door entrance to have quiet time away from the activity in our home. Crump sleeps quietly through the night in a dog bed in our bedroom.
Crump in her earlier life must have had to compete for her food or just had a lack of food because she is always in a frenzy about getting her food or treats. She is protective of her food. She will eat her food and then try to go after my dog’s food. As a result, dogs are separated when they have their meals.
When Crump sees new people or dogs on our walks she sometimes growls or barks. When she is around other dogs she appears to coexist, but it is clear that her behavior suggests she wants to be the only dog. She does not want to share her person with the other dogs. Crump is a sweet, adorable little dog. Her behavior suggests to me she should be a solo dog in her new home. I feel she needs to have a family that is home or in and out of the house during the day. She loves having her people close by. I can leave her at home, and she will have the run of the house. She usually likes to lay down by the door or on a dog bed in the family room and relax when we are gone. Crump wants to be loved! She is a good doggie! We love Crump!

Meet Rusty!

Cats: Unknown!
Kids: Unknown!
You might think I’m a wee bit “rusty” around the edges, but I’m really just getting polished for the right person!
Now, if that caught your attention, keep reading… because hi, I’m Rusty, and I can’t wait to tell you all about myself!
I’m a 2-year-old, 70–75 pound bundle of love and a hodgepodge of breeds, possibly Lab, Doberman, Pit, or maybe just the perfect mix of everything wonderful.
I started my journey at El Dorado County Animal Services, and I want to give a big thanks to all the staff and volunteers who loved and cared for me while I was there. Since then, I have spent three months in the Paws on the Block program. I’m so grateful to my handlers and the institution as a whole for helping me grow in confidence, learn new skills, and show off my best self. Now, I’m ready to find my perfect match!
Now if you aren’t aware of the Paws on the Block program let me tell you all about it! Paws on the Block is more than just a rescue program. It’s a life-changing partnership between Foothill Dog Rescue and Folsom State Prison, pairing rescue dogs with incarcerated individuals who pour their hearts into training, socializing, and loving these pups every single day. It’s a program full of second chances, hope, and transformation.
I know all my basic commands, I’m crate trained, and I walk so beautifully on leash. I love toys so get ready for your Home Goods trips, or chewy orders to become more frequent. I also love yummy treats (the fancier, the better), and snuggles, especially if you’ve got a cozy sweater or heated blanket for me.
My biggest goal right now is continuing to build my confidence. I warm up faster to women, but I’m working on trusting men too. I can be selective with other dogs, and I’m not really into playtime when I find my four legged pals, more so quiet coexistence. It’s like a dog’s doom scrolling equivalent! It’s really important that my people understand my signals, and are able to advocate for me.
I’m agile and love a challenge, so activities like at-home agility courses or fun games would make me very happy. A home with a yard would be amazing, I adore sniff-filled walks, exploring, and romping around outdoors.
Now if you think you may be a good match for me fill out an application for me! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
- XOXO Rusty 💋🐾

Dogs: Yes!
Kids: Has done great with kiddos so far, but remember, he’s still a teething puppy!
Cats: Would have to be a dog savvy cat.
Crate Trained: Work in progress.
House Trained: Work in progress.
Walker may be tiny and mighty now, but he is part of a litter that will grow into strong, intelligent, people-focused adult dogs, who thrive with structure, consistency, and positive training. Walker is currently working on crate training and potty training, has been around other dogs, and will need ongoing, thoughtful socialization with new people, kids, dogs, and environments. Overall he is an easy going guy, who doesn't mind a good snuggle, and is happy to jump into situations with four paws forward.

Ideal Adopter:
Someone experienced with large/working/guardian breeds OR eager and committed to learning!
A home ready to provide structure, routine, and positive reinforcement training.
Families who understand puppy behaviors (mouthiness, teething, zoomies, etc.)

Meet 25-Walnut!
Name: Walnut
Breed Mix: Chihuahua mix
Age: Approx. 2
Weight: 12lb
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown
House-trained: 90%, on schedule
Crate Trained: Yes
Leash Trained: Yes
Neutered male
Walnut is a total keeper and a bundle of fun! He is the best of both worlds and knows when to have fun and when to calm down. He is a playful pup who loves treats, toys, squeaky ball/fetch, chasing his tail, and cuddles (oh and carrots). He loves burrowing in his cozy crate and sleeps quietly all through the night in his crate. He plays well with our big resident dog and had a great time with another dog at a dog park in our community. He loves walks. He does not make a peep in the car and drives well in the crate. He is overall very happy go lucky and a pretty smart cookie.
Walnut is working on potty training and does well on a schedule. With his recent neuter, I would expect it to only improve. When he is walking on the leash, he gets excited when he sees other dogs, cats, bikes or cars (nothing crazy/He doesn’t bark a whole lot).
He is a bit cautious when meeting someone new but warms up in time. He has not been around any children, but in general does not seem to have an aggressive bone in his body and is responsive to correction/is trainable and smart. He doesn’t really like to be picked up and can be a little squirmy.
He would be the perfect companion for a family who will play with him, take him out on walks, and give him the cuddles and love he deserves! If you are ready to have the best time ever, Walnut is your guy.

**WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR WINSTON!!**
Meet Winston
Sex: Male
Age: 8 Weeks Old
Dogs: Yes!
Kids: Has done great with kiddos so far, but remember, he’s still a teething puppy!
Cats: Would have to be a dog savvy cat.
Crate Trained: Work in progress.
House Trained: Work in progress.
Winston may be tiny and mighty now, but he is part of a litter that will grow into strong, intelligent, people-focused adult dogs, who thrive with structure, consistency, and positive training. Because they’ll mature into large, powerful dogs, we’re looking for adopters who are either experienced with big breeds or truly committed to learning and staying consistent with training, for both the puppy and themselves. (We love a self aware dog parent around here!)
Winston is currently working on crate training and potty training, has been around other dogs, and will need ongoing, thoughtful socialization with new people, kids, dogs, and environments. Winston is like Batman! By day he is like Clark Kent and is calm, and bunny hopes around. By night he is ready to rumble and wrestle, and maybe even get into some mischief.
As with all puppies, expect the typical stage, teething, curiosity, bursts of energy, and fear periods that will benefit from patient, confidence-building support.
Ideal Adopter:
Someone experienced with large/working/guardian breeds OR eager and committed to learning!
A home ready to provide structure, routine, and positive reinforcement training.
Families who understand puppy behaviors (mouthiness, teething, zoomies, etc.)
Someone excited to help a big, loving dog grow into their best self!
If you’re ready for the adventure of raising a large-breed puppy with patience, consistency, and so much love, Winston would love to meet you!
If interested, we recommend submitting an adoption application at www.foothilldogrescue.org
Our puppy adoption fee is $350 (with $5 processing fee if paid by card) and includes neuter, DAPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccines, deworming, microchip, and lifetime registration.
